It was the one of the first restaurants to open in that area and was tucked into a historical building off the beaten path. Boasting a modern interior and a perspective on eating and drinking centered on fresh & local ingredients, it immediately became a destination and has since become a cornerstone in New Haven’s restaurant scene. The bar at 116 immediately garnished praise for it’s innovative drinks, boutique wine & spirits and in 2007 The New York Times awarded it a rating of ‘Excellent’. In 2012 an Urban Garden was planted behind the restaurant providing ingredients for the dishes & drinks as well as outdoor seating for a night under the stars. In 2013 the restaurant was again reviewed by The Times and was again rated ‘Excellent’.2013 also gave rise to sister restaurant Meat & Co. 116 is open 6 nights a week and serves as a gathering place for those in search of the best in food, wine, & cocktails.
