UnderCurrants series unveiled by Firestone Walker’s Barrelworks

Undercurrants by Firestone Walker Barrel Works BeerPulse
Cross-Continental Wild Beer Infused with Whole Black Currants from Poland (Buellton, CA) – From the fields of Poland to the coast of California comes UnderCurrants — an inaugural cross-continental wild beer from Firestone Walker’s Barrelworks . “We have been toying around with the idea of a currant-infused beer for several years now,” said Barrelworks’ Master Blender Jim Crooks. “We finally decided to strike when we were able to score beautiful whole black currants from a farmer in Poland, which is renowned as one of the world’s finest currant-growing regions.” The result is a wildly flavorful beer that is bursting with rich currant goodness. This inaugural release of UnderCurrants will begin rolling out next week to all Firestone Walker markets in limited draft and 375-ml bottle formats. It is the second of five bottled Barrelworks wild ale releases slated for 2018. The Making of UnderCurrants After hand harvesting in Poland, the...

Stone White Geist Berliner Weisse makes US debut

Stone White Geist Berliner Weisse label BeerPulse
Year-Round release from Stone Brewing – Berlin to be imported for a limited time (Escondido, CA) – Just two short years after the history-making opening of Stone Brewing – Berlin, the brewery’s beers are now distributed to 25 European countries, making Stone one of the most widely distributed and sought after breweries in Germany. Not content to rest on the hoppy laurels of the company’s world-renowned reputation for American IPAs, the latest in the brewery’s year-round selection is the Stone White Geist Berliner Weisse. Brewed true to the style’s namesake origin of Berlin, the tart and refreshing beer is now enjoying a special limited availability in the US. For the history buffs: The Berliner Weisse is a style dating back to at least the 16th century, and to this day, European appellation labeling standards require that a beer must be brewed within the city of Berlin to call the beer...

Telegraph West Swell Juicy IPA coming to draft, bombers and eventually, cans

telegraph west swell juicy ipa can beerpulse
(Santa Barbara, CA) – When a West Swell comes to the Santa Barbara coast it changes everything, bringing big surf and new opportunities for adventure. Our newest beer, West Swell Juicy India Pale Ale, is creating change, too, and helping further the evolution of the West Coast IPA. It’s pretty hazy, VERY JUICY, and full of that soulful, unrestrained approach to the California lifestyle “We approach brewing new beers very intentionally and very carefully, and for a beer like this, being early wasn’t important to us. We wanted to ensure that West Swell is a beer that every hophead and every craft-beer lover in Santa Barbara can be proud to call their hometown beer and that would also delight IPA fans up and down the West Coast,” says Telegraph Founder Brian Thompson. West Swell is brewed with excessive amounts of late addition Citra and Simcoe hops, then further dry hopped...

Port Nelson the Greeter IPA returns for round two this month

Port Nelson the Greeter BeerPulse
(San Marcos, CA) – Port Brewing Co is set to release the 2nd iteration of Nelson the Greeter IPA this March. Paying homage to the rather (in)famous surf spot/clothing optional beach in San Diego, Nelson the Greeter is the newest hoppy offering from Port Brewing. Using the brash flavors of Nelson hops to lead the charge, The Greeter has a strong hop-supporting cast using Denali, Lemon Drop, and Mosaic varietals to round out this IPA. Notes of Gooseberry and passion fruit dominate the nose with clean tangerine and freshly cut stone fruit notes leading to a smooth bitter citrus finish. “Last year was the first time we’ve been able to brew with Nelson hops for The Greeter,” said Steve Burchill, Head Brewer of Port Brewing Co / The Lost Abbey/ The Hop Concept. “Playing off what we learned, I think we were able to bring out even more of notes...
